Sunday, February 10th from 1-4pm
Monday, February 11th from 6-8:30pm
As usual, we are offering two audition dates for your convenience. You only need to audition once.
If you wish to sing in the spring play, please prepare to sing an acapella song (no longer than 2 minutes) to demonstrate your confidence, voice strength and range. If you wish to dance in the spring play, please prepare to perform a short (no longer than 2 minutes) routine to demonstrate your confidence and skill. Please bring your own playback.
If you do NOT wish to sing or dance, relax: there are plenty of roles that do not require singing or dancing.
Both auditions will take place in the bungalows behind the the Hollywood Lutheran Church:
Hollywood Lutheran Church
1733 North New Hampshire Ave Hollywood, 90027
(one block east of Vermont, just north of Sunset).
Age range is 8 and older. No exceptions.
NEW RULE: Actors must commit to the production once we cast the play. Auditioning and then dropping out causes nightmares in re-casting and causes a domino effect of headaches for actors, families and our staff. We have been nice guys about this, but frankly, as our enrollments have grown, so has the time, trouble and stress of casting the plays. The last few plays featured a couple of actors who dropped out after the show was cast and this caused intense additional hours of re-casting/reconfiguring as we tried to accommodate 70+ kids and their parents. Therefore, if you drop out after casting is announced, you will forfeit participating in the next two SCTG plays. Our plays are written and conceived as ensemble pieces, trying to spread all the roles out evenly while favoring tenure in the company. But you cannot audition, see how you are cast, and then drop out if you don’t like your part. We believe this is uncool and teaches the wrong lessons to our children.
Performance dates are set for two weekends: May 17/18/19 and May 24/25/26
Friday and Saturday nights will be at 7pm. Sunday matinees will start at 2pm.
Most, if not all, roles will be double cast to accommodate our expanding enrollments and offer flexibility for the actors and their families. If you have a conflict with one of the dates PLEASE TELL US BEFORE WE CAST THE PLAY.
Parents must agree to volunteer and work at least one of the shows in a department (costumes, concessions, stage crew, house, props, etc.). No exceptions. We are all very aware of the parents who volunteer and those who do not. If parents choose not work at least one performance, their children will not be allowed to audition for one play season.
There will a mandatory SCTG Parent Orientation on Sunday, February 17th at 2pm. Parents old and new are expected to attend.
This parent orientation is a place where you can bring your comments, concerns and questions. It is intended as a community meeting and, with time constraints, a place to discuss our community of parents of young writers and actors.
Registration fee is $550.
The fee includes 10 performance tickets valued at $200 ($20 each).
The idea is for you to sell the tickets and recoup $200, making your actual reg fee $350.
If you have a second child in the play, their registration fee is $300.
This is because they receive a sibling discount of $50, plus the $200 ticket fee is waived as families with siblings still receive only 10 tickets.
Grand total for two siblings is $850.
Also: families receive a $50 discount for each new student they refer who joins and pays a registration fee.
Recommend two new students and you get $100 discount, etc…
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding the amount due.
The SCTG is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization largely made up of volunteers. Registration fees go to paying the director, the technicians, musicians who aren’t parents, venue rentals, rehearsal space rent, insurance and liability expenses.
Parent involvement is not only absolutely necessary for the success of each show, it’s mandatory.
Kids will not be allowed to participate in rehearsals until their registration fee is paid.
