Tuesday /February 4th from 6-8:30pm
Thursday/ February 6th from 6-8:30pm
Actors will audition in groups. Sides (script pages) from the actual plays will be handed out to actors to review and rehearse before actually auditioning before the director and writers.
Auditions will take place in the bungalows behind the Hollywood Lutheran Church:
Hollywood Lutheran Church
1733 North New Hampshire Ave Hollywood, 90027
(one block east of Vermont, just north of Sunset).
Age range is 8 and older. No exceptions.
Due to the growing popularity (enrollment) of the SCTG, virtually all roles will be double cast. This will offer you flexibility for our two performance weekends.
IMPORTANT: Actors must commit to the production once we cast the play. Auditioning and then dropping out causes nightmares in re-casting and causes a domino effect of headaches for actors, families, writers and our staff. Therefore, if you drop out after casting is announced, you will forfeit participating in the next two SCTG plays. Our plays are written and conceived as ensemble pieces, trying to spread all the roles out evenly while favoring tenure in the company. But you cannot audition, see how you are cast, and then drop out if you don’t like your part. We believe this is uncool and teaches the wrong lessons to our children.
Performance dates are set for two weekends: May 22/23/24 and 29/30/31
Friday and Saturday nights shows will start at 7pm. Sunday matinees will start at 2pm.
All actors must commit to mandatory Tech-Week rehearsals, the evenings of May 18/19/20/21. Tech-week is vital to solidifying the play and securing the confidence of our actors.
Parents must agree to volunteer and work at least one of the shows in a department (costumes, concessions, stage crew, house, props, etc.). No exceptions. A schedule will be provided of performance nights and volunteer opportunities. Luckily, most parents volunteer happily and enthusiastically.
There will a mandatory SCTG Orientation for actors and parents on Tuesday, February 11th at 6pm. This will take place at the same time as the first rehearsal (all actors). Parents old and new are expected to attend.
Registration fee is $550.
The fee includes 10 performance tickets valued at $200 ($20 each).
The idea is for you to sell the tickets and recoup $200, making your actual reg fee $350.
If you have a second child in the play, their registration fee is $300.
This is because they receive a sibling discount of $50, plus the $200 ticket fee is waived as families with siblings still receive only 10 tickets.
Grand total for two siblings is $850.
Also: families receive a $50 discount for each new student they refer who joins and pays a registration fee.
Recommend two new students and you get $100 discount, etc…
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding the amount due.
The SCTG is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization largely made up of volunteers. Registration fees go to paying the director, the technicians, musicians who aren’t parents, venue rentals, rehearsal space rent, insurance and liability expenses.
Parent involvement is not only absolutely necessary for the success of each show, it’s mandatory.
Kids will not be allowed to participate in rehearsals until their registration fee is paid.
